Hermès Leather Forever Exhibition

I have been obsessed with Hermès for as long as I can remember. So, imagine my excitement about the Leather Forever Exhibition which is currently at the Royal Academy of Arts

The exhibition is a beautiful and playful evocation of the relationship between Hermès and leather with beautiful twists done in their signature simple and chic style.

I could happily live in the room filled with the signature 'orange boxes'.

But my favourite part of the exhibition is the gigantic Kelly with smaller Kelly bags inside.

The bag first became a sensation when Grace Kelly held it up like a shield to protect her soon to be born daughter Princess Caroline of Monaco from the paparazzi. The photo appeared on the cover of Life magazine and the bag found its name and became a sensation.

I have been trying to get my hands on one of these beauties for ages, so I literally screamed with excitement when I saw an Hermès artisan making a Kelly in front of me! Seeing the skill that goes into making one answers the simple reason why I love this bag and Hermès so much - it stands for craftsmanship and lasting worth, which is incredibly powerful and very rare in today's world.
